I hate that my browser starts up minimized, I will just have to go to another browser. SMH!

The browser window should open in the same way as it was when it was closed. Does it open minimized no matter what the window was when the browser was closed?

Open your file browser to this hidden location:

  • Mac: *~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles
  • Linux: *~/.mozilla/firefox/Profiles
  • Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
  • *C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
  • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data

Close Firefox. Search for the above file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.

Note that on Mac you can have Firefox running with only the menu bar visible and on Mac closing Firefox can be more complicated because you can close all open windows, but keep Firefox running with the menu bar visible or minimized in the Doc.

Make sure to use "Quit Firefox" with all windows still open, especially if you want to use "Restore Previous Session". Otherwise check "History -> Restore Previous Session" and "History -> Recently Closed Tabs/Windows".
