Firefox 85 locking up every day
Hello, ever since updating Firefox to v85, it's been LOCKING UP every day, sometimes twice a day. Have not been able to figure what site of function is causing the problem.
Have bee watching memory usage in Win Task Manager, Resource Monitor and can see ONE thread of Ffx ramped up to 3 MB.
Firefox updates no longer trusted, will need to do a RESTORE POINT from now on.
Please comment, and where did my first support question go?
Thx,

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version?cache=no Did you update Firefox to the latest version?
Version 85.0.2, first offered to Release channel users on February 9, 2021
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
Thanks for the reply, it's been updated to 85.0.2 — I'd like to go back to the last 84.x.x version.
What will going into Safe mode show? I rely on plugins and don't want to operate without them.
Can last version of v84 be reinstalled? Then I can make RESTORE POINTS before updating in the future. Sorry to lose confidence in the browser.
ATTACHED are memory usage AFTER FFX lockup, viewed in Win Resource Monitor, sorted by Commit column.

We are just trying to troubleshoot the issue Ed. If it works in Safe Mode then it may be an issue with an add-on. Also, could you try using another windows account to see if Firefox works normally.

I've disabled one of the add-ons that never gets used. Of the important add-ons: two were auto-updated in Feb 2021, and one updated last in Dec 2020. It could take half a day for FFX to freeze, and I can't go that long without add-ons active.
Thx
Is it possible to kill (shut down) the one Firefox PID that's hogging memory to unfreeze the app? See memory use attachments posted earlier today. Thx
