uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and lost all my bookmarks

more options

I had some dodgy issues with my firefox browser that I couldn't resolve (I think it might have been because of add on) so I uninstalled the program and reinstalled new off the web and all my bookmarks have gone?!?!?!? It has seem to have created a new account for me???

Please tell me there is a way I can get them back.

Thanks Kaye

I use Windows and am not familiar with how uninstalling works on Mac. Usually trashing Firefox doesn't erase your data, at least not without asking.

Maybe Firefox created a new profile but your old one is still knocking around. As the first step, check:

Profile Manager Page

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

This page should list at least one profile and could list many. (Each profile has two folders and one or more buttons. Do not use any Remove buttons!)

The profile that Firefox is currently using will have this:

This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.

Do you have another profile listed on this page? If so, you can check whether it is the one you were using recently by clicking its Launch profile in new browser button.

If it isn't what you want, simply close that new window.

If it IS what you want, back on the about:profiles page, click the Set as default profile button for that profile so Firefox uses it automatically at the next startup.

Any progress so far?

Hi Kaye, could you make sure Firefox has gotten permanently installed into the Applications folder as described in the following article, and that you run it from there, and not the DMG installer:

How to download and install Firefox on Mac

Thanks jscher2000,

It was in my applications folder. However, I have uninstalled and reinstalled again as per the steps but it still opens with none of the previous saved information/bookmarks I had. I was in a rush to finish a project when I did it and after the install it asked me for my email so I think its has set up a new account for me. I never ever remember logging in before.

Do you think my info is completely lost?
