Hi community,

Somehow the Other Bookmarks folder showed up at the end of my bookmarks bar. I am pretty sure it was not there yesterday. I assume that somehow I accidentally placed it there.

The problem is that I can't either move it, or remove it from there. When you select it, delete option is grey and not available. Does anyone now exactly how to remove it from the bookmarks bar?

Thank you people... :)

That one single preference change should not turn off the toolbar, the bar should continue to work just like it did in Firefox 83 without the recent changes. Can you turn the toolbar back on using one of the usual methods:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank spot on the tab bar (or the "+" button)
  • (menu bar) View > Toolbars
On Windows, tap the Alt key to activate the menu bar temporarily.
  • in Customize mode > Toolbars button (see: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars)

Next week Firefox 85 will have a new right-click context menu option to remove it, but for now, no. You could turn off the Bookmarks Toolbar changes until you get the next release:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste toolb and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.toolbars.bookmarks.2h2020 preference to switch the value from true to false

That takes effect in new windows (Ctrl+n) or after doing a regular exit/restart of Firefox.

Thank you for your answer. It does not solve my problem, but it answers my question...

Because I like having the Bookmarks toolbar always on , I can't apply that. I am disappointed thou that such a simple operation as controlling basic functions is not possible on Firefox...

Once again, thank you for the effort.

OK... I did that, and it worked that way exactly.

Once again, thank you so much. :)

using jscher2000's browser.toolbars.bookmarks.2h2020 solution worked for me and i keep bookmarks toolbar always on, its literally just right click and select bookmarks toolbar and should not be affected by this.

In Firefox 85+ you can right-click the "Other Bookmarks" folder icon on the Bookmarks Toolbar show or hide this button (Show Other Bookmarks).
