Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now" "Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies" Also make sure that your security software (firewall) isn't modifying the HTTP response header.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

You can right-click and select "Inspect Element" to open the Inspector (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) with this element selected. You can check the font used for selected text in the Font tab in the right pane of the Inspector.

Hi dave1music, I realize this is very obscure, but this failure to decode text properly can occur in Firefox 77-78 when multiprocess is disabled. Do you recall ever making changes to disable multiprocess, also known as e10s?

Could you take a look on the Troubleshooting Information page -- either

• "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
• (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
• type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table on the page, find the Multiprocess Windows row. Usually the number in the numerator and denominator is the same (e.g., 2/2). Does yours have zero on the left? If so, something is disabling multiprocess.

Of course, if that page is unreadable...
