Restoring open tabs after reinstall

more options

I am currently using Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit edition.

I have now installed Mozilla Firefox 71.0 64-bit version from a standalone offline installer.

Prior to this, but before my problem I had installed (from a standalone offline installer) Mozilla Firefox 65 (maybe), but I had it updated to the latest version (71.0 I guess) through online updates.

I had prior to my problem been logged into my Firefox account, had sync on and syncing everything it could from day one.

I also had Remember History enabled.

I was forced to do a Windows 10 refresh, not a full reinstall, one of those where the core Windows files get reinstalled, and the rest get reset to factory settings but I get to keep my personal files.

Trouble was I didn't get a chance to copy the contents of the Firefox Profile folder so that I can reinstall it later.

After the reinstall of Mozilla Firefox, when I signed into my Firefox account, all my add-ons got reinstalled, and my Bookmarks came back (after a while) in a sort of semi resurrected state (they are there, but need to be accessed al least once to be fully back and registered in the Profile folder).

What HAS NOT COME BACK was the previous session, ie all the tabs, search history and previous downloads.

Since I really need those, I was wondering, how do I get THOSE back.

Any help is more than welcome.

Thank you.

Without your original Firefox profile folder, no, that data likely can't be recovered. Firefox Sync is not a backup service, so it doesn't function like one. The servers that run Firefox Sync don't necessarily have permanent or complete versions of your data, since that's not necessary for just syncing data between systems.

As a side note, when you mention that your bookmarks need to be accessed at least once, I assume you are referring to the fact that they don't have any icons. That's normal. Firefox Sync doesn't save the icons because that's a lot of useless data to save. It just grabs the icon the first time that you visit the website.
