After FF 70 update, auto login doesn't work. Some sites after manual login don't log me in.

Postáilte

Win7, FF 70.0 64 bit. YouTube, Amazon, eBay, etc., don't auto login. Most have me login manually and work ok afterwards. Some after I manually login, don't transfer to member's area and request login again or see me as a guest. Some, Amazon, eBay, etc. send me a one time password. Email (aol.com) and my credit union auto logins are the only ones that works normally. I've worked thru all the related fixes I can find, but none has worked. Usually save history, tried custom history.

Cleared history, cache, cookies, no change. Disabled extensions. Noticed FF enabled all addons during update (ie, ublock, adblock and others that duplicate services) so maybe they were conflicting. Some sites I couldn't log into manually now are available with a manual login. I'm gonna restart FF and see if auto login works. Waiting to mark this as solved. Why does FF have to have so many updates and unnecessary changes? If it's not broke, don't fix it.

Try clearing history <browser history> and clear cache data and enter your details anew. Usually works. Or try clearing cookies and block/close the installed extensions . If any of these doesn't work try uninstalling firefox/ desired <default browser you are using > and try again.

Steps to follow :

   1.Try clearing history <browser history>
   2.Clear cache data
   3.Clearing cookies
   4.Block/close the installed extensions

Cleared history, cache, cookies, no change. Disabled extensions. Noticed FF enabled all addons during update (ie, ublock, adblock and others that duplicate services) so maybe they were conflicting. Some sites I couldn't log into manually now are available with a manual login. I'm gonna restart FF and see if auto login works. Waiting to mark this as solved. Why does FF have to have so many updates and unnecessary changes? If it's not broke, don't fix it.

This is twice in the last year FF updates have F' up my browsing. I don't like some of the changes, like the appearance of the saved login list and other changes in the options. I'm getting tired of this crap. I want to browse, not trouble shoot.

My Firefox has also stopped Auto-Logging me in. For me, it started while I was working on a New Rig & got Firefox 64-bit installed on it & it wouldn't work right for me... then shortly after the problem retroactively applied to my Old Rig... it's not worked since. Around this time I was also noticing the new "Firefox Lockwise" & trying to Research it & gave it a try... it's a Suspect.

I found a 2 year old Article on this... it completely failed. I've even tried manually exterminating all my Saved Logins... no go. I'm at a loss what to do now. Having to Re-Log In to everything constantly is driving me up the wall, especially my Google Home Page & bout everything i've enabled 2-Factor Authorization on... especially my Google Home Page...

My apologies for this Double Post, but Update: I use CCleaner Professional, & while doing routine maintenance with it, I was lookin in my Cookies for stuff better kept, like stuff from Firefox, Google, places I frequent, etc., & noticed a hell of a lotta gobbledegook Cookies from some kinda Site called somethin like "lastly-insights.com" that i'd swear I never heard of or intentionally visited... also some Cookies that are just seemingly random digits that make no sense to me... I have no clue how long this Cookie Trash has been hiding in my Computer, but it looked Malicious so I ordered CCleaner to exterminate it.

Outta curiosity I test drove afterwards hopping onto Firefox & logging into my Google Homepage then exited then re-entered to see if my Auto-Logins had regained function... alas, no go. :(

I tried lookin in my Cookies in CCleaner again & one of those weird digit Cookies keeps auto-returning every time I nuke it then hop back onto Firefox... It IDs as "b1ecb5af-f721-40ab-825c-006c4e5cc99d"... could some kinda new malicious trash be targeting Firefox trying to bully people away from using it or some such kinda sabotage...?

Also, imma gonna start a Anti-Virus Full Scan now...

I use the add on: auto cookie delete. I deletes cookies you don't authorize when you close the page or restart Firefox. It's not 100% because some sites will add a 3rd party cookie. I go thru my cookies once a day and delete the ones auto cookie delete misses. I thought I marked the FF 70 update problem solved some time ago. It solved itself the next FF upgrade, as I remember a couple days later. Now I avoid the problem by not letting FF update automatically. FF updates have screw up my browsing a couple times. Now I wait until an update has been out at least a week. Same for windows. Although now that 7 is gone, I'm switching to Zorin. Bye Bye Microsoft!

Are you using auto cookie delete? Or some other add on the stops a site from leaving a cookie. To auto login you need a cookie that has your user name and password.

Only the typical Adblock Plus, & it's never detrimented me before...

I also use CCleaner & use it to help in Cookie Management, including to more easily notice Cookies that look Benign like ones from Google, Sites I frequent & have Forum Logins, & such & add them to the 'Keep List'. Ever since this problem started, it's seemed like my kept Cookies are not harmed, but having them safeguarded has no effect on keeping my Auto-Logins safe either...

My problem with auto login was related to a FF version update and was corrected in a couple days with a new update. But I talked to people that used auto cookie delete who had forgotten to add their login sites to the white list. If you verify that a cookie exists for the site where auto login failed then it may be in your settings. In FF options, under Enhanced Tracking Protection, Custom, there are 4 check boxes. All of them or any one, if checked, caused problems for me in logins, and some caused FF to give erroneous notices that made it difficult to even connect to some sites. I got errors like the site's certificate had expired, etc.

Huh... Before all this trouble began, I didn't used to need to Whitelist anything for Auto-Logins to work... then again I think now that I think about it my problems started after the Firefox Update that changed stuff to include stuff like the Enhanced Tracking Protection... & to add insult to injury i've still gotten Cookies I suspect of causing me grief & interfering with my Wireless Antenna's 5.0 Band usage & I had to exterminate & block the 2 Sites I suspect as the culprit to make THAT problem stop... :/

Guess I can give it a try at going through the horrible horrible tedium of Whitelisting a ton of stuff... :(

Edit: Update: Dammit... not even Whitelisting Sites stops the Auto-Login fail!!! :'(

I don't like to be tracked. That's why I use auto cookie delete. But it's not 100%. I go thru my cookies daily to get the missed ones. Besides tracking, another reason for deleting cookies, I read a lot of news. Many sites are going to subscriptions. But if you arrive there from a link and no cookie exists, usually you have the run of the site on your first visit (or get a limited number of articles). But next time, if there's a cookie, you're blocked from accessing pages. If there is no cookie, it's your first time, again. Lately, I've been getting cookies from sites I never visited. Another reason for going thru cookies often. Anyway, white listing worked for me on the auto login. If it doesn't work for you, History could be part of the problem.

I have my Firefox set to Clear History when it closes. Don't want the History becoming useless clutter i'll never remember to deal with later. It never interfered with my Auto-Login function before... could a Firefox Bug have cropped up in this regard?

I don't think it's a bug. Mine works, many others would be screaming. It could be related to your ISP and might be worth a call. I had a problem with logging into my power company site with any browser. Even manually, not just auto login. In fact the login box didn't even show. If I used a different ISP, but same computer I had no problem logging in. It turned out some of the settings in my wireless modem (supplied by the ISP) needed some settings reset. I use wireless internet. Remotely it could be something running in memory. Sometimes programs interfere with other functions. Sometimes the order programs are loaded at startup can affect other programs.

Update: I put "lastly-insights.com" & "qualtrics.com" on my Block List in my Firefox Options & i'm still seeing them show up in my Cookies on CCleaner... some also simultaneously with words in them I recognize, like "kickstarter" accompanied by worrisome things like "site-intercept"...

I think we got ourselves some malicious threat... how do I report these to Firefox? D:
