The same question was asked a year ago, and is marked 'solved'. But it is not. Username suggestions occur without any way to edit the shown names. The recommended solution (right click in the field ..) brings up an empty list, if there wasn't any password saved with the website. Do you have an editor for the stored database? May be would simpler to search and edit the database directly.

Your wrapping was successful, I didn't try to edit the drop down list directly.

Phew - huge relief  ! (i was beginning to doubt myself .... )

inform the other poor fellow who had the question a year ago!

I don't know who that poor fellow is though .....

Would you be so kind as to mark the post that solved the problem as Chosen Solution (you now marked it as being Helpful, which of course is great).

It's the "Solved the problem " button to the right of that post.

Thank you in advance !

Hello Alexander,

Would you try this please :

Click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop-down list. Then highlight an entry in the drop-down list using the cursor Down key (arrow key). (Don't click the mouse and don't press Enter) Press the Delete key (on Mac  : Shift+Delete) to delete the highlighted entry. Repeat till only the correct username is left. (Don't click the mouse and don't press Enter)

(Hovering with the mouse no longer works)

'Hope this works for you  !

No, there is no entry, see attached Screenshots.

I must have misconstrued your problem - looking at your first screenshot, I thought you wanted to remove incorrect username suggestions.

When I Iook at your second screenshot, it looks like you need to manually enter a username, but that it won't be saved  ?

Would you check this please :

3-bar menu => Options => Privacy & Security :

Under "Logins and Passwords" - make sure that this box is checked :

"Ask to save logins and passwords for websites"

Does it work now ?

Yes your first assumption was correct: > I thought you wanted to remove incorrect username suggestions. I want to remove some of the suggested usernames.

You recommended to click in the *empty* Box, which I did. The resulting list box for editing is empty. I still want to remove some of the suggested usernames.

My guess it is a programming error, the list-box is populated *only* in pairs

Thanks for your efforts

When you click in the empty input field, and no usernames suggestions appear - when do they appear  ?

Then you say that you still want to remove some of the suggested usernames - when they do appear; using the arrow down key and then press "Delete" doesn't work ?

(I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around this - sorry if I'm not much help .... )

Other fellow(s): https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1176663

That is an almost two year old thread, and the solution seemed to have worked for the OP (= Original Poster).

The other one (Bonancy) posted on 03-18-18; almost a year and a half ago - posting in an archived thread is not possible ......

But thank you for the suggestion - that's very considerate of you. Maybe I'll try to send that user a PM (= Private Message).
