Version 67.0.4 is rife with hangs

Postáilte

I just updated to 67.0.4, which literally came a day after another upgrade so I assume it's a patch. In any case, it is not by any means an improvement. It's rife with hangs. Where is the website for the previous versions? I need to go back to the one immediately before this page. I don't know if you guys were trying to figure some security issue, but it's been made unusable.

Install Older Version Of Firefox {web link} Be sure to read everything here.

If you still want to downgrade, look under; I still want to downgrade. Click the Directory of other versions and languages link. Look for the directory of the version that you want. But, remember that old versions may have security issues.

You should also check out Firefox; Extended Support Release {web link} ESR Notes System Requirements

It took some time this morning but it is not hanging now. But, I am not satisfied that it will stop anytime soon.

I don't really want to downgrade but you might want to review this issue and get a patch going.

Edit: Getting script errors and my youtube stream froze and another streaming site was freezing. I couldn't tap on the options like pause or continue. Gmail was also unresponsive and I could not close an open window for composing a new e-mail.

I also have gmail issues since yesterday, but completely different version. I'm sure that these google issues are not connected with an update of Firefox. They do it all the time, i'd call it anti-competitive behaviour.

The last two updates were about security vulnerabilities.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Remove the Cookies" from websites that cause problems:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Manage Data

"Clear the Cache":

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

It is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox application. Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

See:

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.
