A year ago user cardinal4 opened a support ticket called "Old tab still reopen after closing all tabs". https://support.mozilla.org/nl/questions/1180366

I experience the same issue. I find it rather privacy-unfriendly for browsers to just pop open tabs you thought you had closed. It thus surprised me that this hasn't been resolved in over a year.

Are there any plans to fix this? Will my browser ever stop telling my friends and family what page I was browsing last, every time I only wanted to show them a cat video?

Could you test it on the latest version of Firefox?
