Hello.

When I type in the address bar, according to the parameters I choose, I get suggestions from:

- my bookmarks

- my browsing history.

I want to keep both these options that are helpful.

But I want to get rid from some history items. The following procedure is supposed to perform that aim:

In the pop-up list the user focuses the unwanted item and press the Delete key. (With some browsers you need to use a combination: Del+Shift or Del+Ctrl)

It was functioning on FF but it doesn't work any more: the item disappears from the list but comes back immediately after.

Nor the suppression of related cookies works.

How to perform now this operation (getting rid from unwanted history items in the address bar) ?

I saw equivalent questions but only with inappropriate answers.

I say again: I want to keep my browsing history feeding the suggestions, and only delete selected items.

Thank you very much to contributors who can to answer the question and provide helpful solutions.

Regards.

Click in the field, enter a character or two and STOP ! Using the arrow keys, highlight an unwanted entry. Then press Delete (Mac=Shift Delete). Repeat as needed.

As I wrote: (doing this) "the item disappears from the list but comes back immediately after."

You can try "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of a history item.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

If "Verify Integrity" button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page cannot repair places.sqlite then remove all places.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from a recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Hello cor-el. Sorry for the time to answer.

It worked from the Library button->History -> Show All History->Forget About This Site.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Otherwise, I don't see the exact usage of what you wrote under the bar, beginning with 'If "Verify Integrity" button ...'. Is it to try in case the previous solution doesn't work ? Regards. j-p
