lost video capability, old processor, can't go above FF ver 48, flash 29 blocked by FF, how do I unblock it.
I'm running an old AMD P4 equivalent that doesn't have the SSEE capability I think it's called so I can't upgrade above firefox 48.0.2 which I have. I only use it for web search but occasionally I like to browse youtube but now I can't as I can only go up to flash player 29 and firefox blocks it. I got around it once by uninstalling flash and firefox then re-installing both, but that doesn't work now. Can you help? I'm not worried about security issues on this machine as it's for leisure only with no personal/sensitive data on it.

SSE2 has been a requirement for Windows Firefox since 49.0 and later yes. Firefox on Linux has had SSE2 as a requirement since 53.0 and later.
While Pentium 4 or P4 did support SSE2, a number of AMD CPU's at the same time period did not.
Unless the Flash Player Plugin has a requirement for SSE2 support also for more recent versions, you can run the current Flash player 31.0.0.108 on Windows XP. On https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ "Windows7/Vista/XP"
The company Mozilla is doing soft blocking of 30.0.0.113 and older (on Sept 10) due to critical vulnerabilities. Soft block means you can only do "Click to Play" or Do Not Activate. Youtube has not really used the Flash Player Plugin for a couple years now as they use a HTML5 player now to be more cross platform. https://www.youtube.com/html5/
Microsoft has not supported the EOL WinXP with the media foundation pack as they do with Windows Vista SP2 and later. The packs add codecs that is needed by web browsers like Firefox and SeaMonkey to fully use the HTML5 players.
Youtube may have made changes pretty recently as you are not the only WinXP (or Vista SP1) user to not be able to watch Youtube videos anymore or harder to.

I'd strongly suggest you update to a new computer. Your ancient one is not safe to use on the internet.
Thanks Tyler, but it's safe enough for my purposes as I have up to date AV etc, plus the fact that it has nothing 'sensitive' on it. it's just for leisure so I can't justify the expense. I have a 'modern' one for 'serious' stuff but everyone else uses that so I can't always get on it.
Don't use that computer for anything that requires a password. It's not safe. Your antivirus cant protect you
