Let's make sure your Flash Player is up to date.

Note: Windows users should download the ActiveX for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.

Flash Player Version: Version 29.0.0.171

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ Direct link scans current system and browser Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, Win IE . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only> +++++++++++++++++++ See if there are updates for your graphics drivers https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

The site may be using a HTML5 player and not the Flash Player Plugin. Firefox 52 ESR will have more current fixes for the playing of audio and video in HTML5 player plus be more secure.

https://www.youtube.com/html5 is was way to see what your system supports as all check marks should ideally be blue.

If you have a N or KN edition of Windows then you may not have the feature pack installed which includes the codecs. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-video-audio-problems-firefox-windows

AFAIK the codec was for WMP and Video Drivers come their site or Manufacture for computer that matchs the system. Flash Player only loads when it is needed that my understanding of how it works now. If you not sure how to install or do updates you should really take it to a computer shop for them to show you how to do these updates in person. Using this forum in that way will confuse more then it helps.

Did you already tried Firefox 52.8.0 ESR? Firefox 52.8.0 ESR:

That is probably because no-one uses these codecs. Installing third-party codecs is at your own risk and make sure to check the files with your anti-virus software because such files are regularly used to spread malware.

It should be possible to play MP4 files on Vista with builtin OS means. You can try a Windows oriented forum to get a more clear answer.

I did answer as you may have a N or KN edition of Windows Vista to not have the codecs already. There is a download link for Vista on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-video-audio-problems-firefox-windows

Firefox on Linux requires FFmpeg to fully support the HTML5 players. Normally they would install the FFmpeg packages in their package manager.

Hi, tons of people use K-lite Codecs even if no idea they do not need them anymore. All Packs are Compatible with Windows XP, 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10. Both x86 and x64.

They are only needed for Offline viewing on older type players. VLC Video Lan & MPC-H all have enough codecs included to play anything off line or online if know how to set it up to do so.

Paid programs like CyberLink Power DVD comes with included Codecs also to play anything.

SO the long and short of it is You really do not need Codecs installed but if you choose to do so, do so. If they ever get used is well a question as Firefox plays HTML5 Video.

If you are going to websites that play streaming content that is ripped off and they say you need Codecs then RUN. You do not need what they offer along with it if any codecs at all. If you have downloaded Codecs from one of these sites then suggest you do a Virus Scan.

As I said a couple times already if you have a N or KN edition of Windows (which includes Vista, 7, 8, 10) then it does not come with the very specific codecs (provided by the media feature packs from Microsoft) needed for the HTML5 players to run in browsers like Firefox and SeaMonkey. Windows for say the Canadian and US markets does not have this issue.

the streaming sites not ask for codecs , just videos on that sites not load and when i asked on site like this one for know why the videos not load i got the answer of missing codecs , that's why i asked if the other codecs i linked before could be used by firefox since in the microsoft support site the upgrade that should fix the problem are installable on service packs 2 i was looking for codecs installable on service pack 1 but before try them i wanted to know if firefox could use also third party codecs for load videos on streaming on every sites , for example also live videos on youtube doesn't load , only when they're not live anymore after some days they will load but on others sites no videos load ... thanks everyone for reply , i really hope to fix this problem...

My $0.02:

I don’t want to be rude, but you managed to create a 3-page thread running for 2 months for your other question still remaining unsolved as expected, while you refused to upgrade your OS, install service packs or even updates just because you had a slow PC experience when installing SP1 on Vista once. Doing so is living on the edge and asking help for this requires a lot of efforts from helpers for an issue that may be not be solved. I could be wrong but don’t think the purpose of this forum is to help out with challenges like these, if a reliable solution can be found anyway, open source or not (even though it’s not prohibited and there may be users who do want to help out). You write a lot, but don’t act how you should, and all this seems to be based on fear and assumptions. Fix things by the root instead.

Please understand that and consider upgrading your OS and following requirements, or at least install SP2 which apparently doesn’t even require the install of missing codecs. The day you do, you’ll likely regret the time and energy put into this and perhaps other previous or upcoming issues.

yeah i have fear to got a more slower pc since service pack 1 already did ( and since i'm using this pc also for gaming , I can not afford more slowness already now the only games this pc can run are slow like 20 or less fps ,and i can not purchase new pc at the moment too ) , i got no improvement for upgrading the service pack only worsening , and since this problem is related to codecs if third party codecs can solve the problem avoiding me to make , in my opinion , useless upgrades , i prefer doing in this way , but seems nobody know if firefox could use also these third party codecs...
