Hello AbdulAl,
No, you can't - that icon tells you whether a site you visit is secure or not (and more).
Please see :

And also :

ok how about any window that is secure or not even secure, I mean I would like to customize and change the green padlock to let's say a banana and still keep the connection secured? I know what you mean, but I want to change the look of the icon to something else. can I do that?

Ahhh, I see what you mean : you want to change its looks , not its function.
I don't know if that's possible or not - if it is (which would surprise me) : fingers crossed that somebody will let you know how.
because my professor challenged our classroom that if someone can change its looks, he/she will get extra credit

Is that professor the one who suggested a banana ?
It reminded me of a comedian who told the audience :
" I'm going bananas. That's what I tell my bananas when I leave the house .... "
Could it be that that professor is pulling your leg(s) ?
Anyway, I took your question seriously, and I searched some more and the only thing I could find (that doesn't even come close to what that professor suggest, I'm afraid) is this thread :
yeah the professor told us to if we can change the padlock to a banana. Also, where do I go if I want to change the color of it? because I didn't understand the reddit post.

Couldn't let it go .....
That professor mentioned it's looks : That doesn't necessarily mean change it to look like another object - having it change color, or having a strike through it, changes its looks as well. You could outsmart the prof ......

You posted while I was typing my last post (about outsmarting the prof).
As to how to change the color : that's way over my head (sorry !)
If you really want to give that a try : maybe somebody else will see this thread and explain it to you (fingers crossed !)
I still think that prof is pulling your leg - banana, yeah, right ......

aright, thank you so much
Hey, you could tell the prof that you can do even better than to make it look like a banana :
You can make it look like a ghost - an invisible ghost (and make the padlock disappear) :

So, you are asking us to do your homework for you. How do you actually learn anything without doing the "grunt work"?
omni.ja in the Firefox Program Files is where those security images are stored, and where they are accessed from as needed. https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/About_omni.ja_%28formerly_omni.jar%29
omni.ja is like a "zip" file and can be opened by an application such as 7-Zip. https://www.7-zip.org/
You will need to edit that omni.ja file to get it to work with new images, and with Firefox 60 just being released just make sure your Firefox installation is updated before editing it. Each new major and minor version (IOW, a security update) gets a new omni.ja file, so any user editing is lost and needs to be re-done after each update. So part of your learning experience might be to learn how to make your changes in omni.ja "permanent", or persist after the omni.ja file gets replaced.
That Reddit Firefox CSS thread has clues for you to learn from. https://www.reddit.com/r/FirefoxCSS/comments/7exbot/is_there_a_way_to_change_the_color_of_ssl_padlock/ First learn how to change the color, and then do more research to learn how to substitute a different image file or ("data:image/png;base64, image. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5242319/what-does-this-mean-image-pngbase64
https://stackoverflow.com/ and Reddit are probably 2 of the best resources for learning about modifying Firefox internally.
@ the-edmeister :
"So, you are asking us to do your homework for you. How do you actually learn anything without doing the "grunt work"? "
The OP came to us with the question : "Can the padlock be changed ?" I consider that to be part of the 'grunt work' .......
As for the Reddit thread about changing the color : See my earlier posts ......
