Tabs won't revert to preset Google Homepage

Good morning!

In the latest Firefox update my homepage and tabs somehow changed. Whilst I've been able to restore my first homepage, whenever I open a new tab Firefox displays the 'Firefox' browser. Nice as it is, thanks, I prefer the Google home page.

I've gone to options, general and looked at 'Check default browser.' When I click on 'check default browser' nothing happens and there are no 'tick' areas in which to choose any preferred browser.

I'd be most grateful for your ad vice.

I've attached a copy of my screen Firefox profile and an image of the General Firefox page.

There are some bad programs and add-ons that can change how the browser works without the user knowing.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

I'm not sure what you mean - in Firefox'es menu you don't choose another browser ..... Your screenshot shows that Firefox is your default browser.

If you want each tab to open your home page (Google), you could consider this add-on :

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/

You could also just click the 'Home' button (next to the reload button, at the left side of the address bar)
