FIND [cmd+f] will say no results no matter what I type in, even if it's a word I'm starring at on the page; [/] too.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

hello, and thank you for responding.

This morning, my ff was lagging and refusing to load pages, so I restarted. Wouldn't you know, FIND works again. So, it wasn't an extension. Does that mean it was what you called "hardware acceleration"?

embarrassing. should have restarted first, hindsight being 20/20.

in my defense, FIND broke a day or so before my ff showed any of the other usual signs of needing a restart. I guess FIND may be a herald, in a sense? I assumed my old hardware was incompatible with the last update (which has happened to me before.) Sorry for wasting your time, cor-el.

also, longtime ff user, FIND and QUICKFIND have worked for me plenty of times for me in the past, it just broke. I think I noticed it no more that 2 nights ago.

thanks.
