why has FF42 disabled the ability to use popular short cut keys [ctl] + [c], [ctl] + [p], etc. on all websites
using FF42 on both a laptop and desktop (both windows 7) and another laptop running Win10... and it seems that all the usual shortcut keystrokes are no longer working...

Will try and update if successful but I don't think that is the issue because there is no issues with forbidding text selection since highlighting and copy and paste does indeed work using both toolbar and pop-up (right click) menu selections... it is simply simply the keyboard shortcuts that do not work....
Certainly Ctrl+p for Print is not something that websites typically care to block.
Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.
If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.
If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
and OK the restart.
Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).
Any improvement? (More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode)
Use keyboard shortcuts if the buttons on the web page or other methods aren't working.
- Copy: Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Insert (Mac: Command + C)
- Paste: Ctrl+V or Shift+Insert (Mac: Command + V)
- Cut: Ctrl+X or Shift+Delete (Mac: Command + X)
