thanks, so apparently the bookamrks & addons engine is failing during synchronisation. i see that you have the "places maintenance" addon present, did you have issues with database corruption in the past already?

I got the "places maint" as a means to try and fix this problem...when I ask it to run it often just sits there "executing maint" but never finds anything wrong. I will run again now. Thank you for your help. Hopefully we can figure this out...I've been doing all that I can all weekend to fix.

Now "places maint" just ran and told me:

> Integrity check + The database is sane > Coherence check - Unable to check database coherence

do you depend on your history data? otherwise we could try to purge the database that holds your bookmarks & history and restore the bookmarks from a backup...

in regards to the addons you could try this: go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information > profile - show folder... then window should open up containing your profile folder. in there look for the files named extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite, extensions.sqlite-journal (and in some cases also extensions.txt, extensions.rdf). delete or rename those files and quit firefox, they will be regenerated the next time you launch firefox.

I went through profile. Found a extensions.ini folder and deleted

ok, then while in your profile folder, please also make a backup of all files starting with "places" in a safe location and then remove it from the profile as well.

now, my questions are: do you have your bookmarks back & does sync still throw an error message now?

No error and bookmarks restored.
