I have some sites, where firefox is always crashing, while surfing on the sides. On these sides firefox crashes anytime. On Youtube.com, I can always reproduce that firefox crashes: If i watch a video on youtube, firefox crashes anytime during watching the video, and always if i select another video from the side listed videos. Firefox just closes.

I had the problem on older firefox versions. some vresions the problem don't occour. ar the moment, with firefox 39, 40 and 40.0.2 the problem occours always. I had in the past (over month ago) the same problem with a 3x.0 version of firefox, before I installed the operating system new. But now the problem is back. The problem occours also in save mode and with a new installation of firefox (also with new user profile folders). At the moment, I have no more new ideas. Maybe you can help me. If you need further hardware od operating system intormations from me, please feel free to ask me. I'm sure, that I have all updates installed which are available. Maybe you have a idea. My operating system is Arch Linux, so I can also give you terminal outputs, for diagnostic. thanks in advance.

Update: After surfing in the Arch-Linux Forum I found a possible solution. After I trying it, firefox works till now. I think it is the solution for me. The solution is: deinstallation of the package "gstreamer-vaapi".

Till now firefox works...

hi hans, if you can reliably reproduce this crash (and in a new profile as well), it would be best to go ahead and file a bug at bugzilla.mozilla.org about this so it gets the attention of developers. as a guideline how to file a good bug for crashing-problems you can also refer to https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/QA/Filing_Crash_Bugs thank you!

I surfing currently with chromium. I checked it again. Resetting firefox don't fix the problem. Also a deinstallation of all java and jdk. Youtube watching with the html5 viewer also crashes. And there is no crash dialog. Firefox just closing. I checked today night my 16GB RAM with memtest, no errors. I will try to write to bugzilla, cause I don't find a 100% relevant reported bug.

A complete new installation of firefox also don't fix the problem. About one year ago, I reinstalled my completely PC because of the same problem. Now it is back. That is really sad for me, case I have only a 2Mbit internet connection. A upgrade will not come because of fu***** german telekom, who don't want to upgrade my village. A complete Arch-linux OS reinstallation takes very very long time for me. And there is no guarantee that the problem will be present again.

PS: excuse me for my english, ich had only "school english" here in germany.
