I am trying to set a manual proxy configuration. I give the IP and port and click Ok. I refresh the browser or reopen Firefox. When i go back to look at the settings, it gets set to the last option, ie Automatic Proxy Configuration URL. Why is that happening? How can it be resolved?

Delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved
