When I have FireFox open and I click the plus sign to open up a new tab. Google France shows up.

How do I correct this to open an English tab?

This webpage has been set as your default new tab page for whatever reason. To change your new tab page, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to about:config in Firefox
  2. Locate the browser.newtab.url string
  3. Change the value of this string to the URL of your desired new tab page. The default Firefox new tab page URL is about:newtab

I hope that this will repair your issue.
I hope to hear from you soon.

Hopefully it's as easy as updating the setting as described above.

However, if you find that https://www.google.com/ still redirects to a .fr page, you may need to do one of the following:

(1) Click a link on that page to always use the .com site or, if the link is missing or ineffective,

(2) Use this link to set a cookie so Google doesn't do that country-sniffing redirect:

https://www.google.com/ncr

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

You can check if you have the XML files of the default search engines including the English Google in the browser/searchplugins folder in the Firefox application folder.

If not then you need to reinstall Firefox.
