If they are coming up at some other time, could you describe the sequence of events in more detail.

For the Yahoo tab, could you copy the address from the address bar and paste it into a reply? Sometimes it will contain parameters showing that it is generated by some unwanted software (either an add-on or external software).

More specifically, the Yahoo error happens at seemingly random times with random url's. I just time the full url in the bar and a Yahoo page appears (with Yahoo search - although I do not use that search engine) with a purple 'banner' which inside reads: "The requested URL "espn" cannot be found or is not available. Please check the spelling or try again later." This doesn't happen all the time but at random. Secondly, the "no site configured for this address" error comes at a full white screen also at random time with random sites. But it seems like when it shows up once for site it was continue to show up. (Unlike Yahoo error which decides when to show up or not).

If you enter a one-word search in the address bar (by one word, I mean, it contains no spaces), Firefox will look it up as a possible server name with your DNS service provider, typically your ISP. Some service providers lie and say that they have the site you want, then show you their search results page.

In this case, I'm not sure whether it is your DNS service provider or some software running on your computer, because the Yahoo URL indicates the involvement of Visicom, and what's happening sounds like a toolbar described in this article:

That now seems to be called MyStart. Does "MyStart" or "Incredibar" ring any bells? Let's clean that out.

Since add-ons often are installed externally to Firefox, I suggest starting here:

Open the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. Click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.

Then, in Firefox, open the Add-ons page using either:

• Ctrl+Shift+a
• "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Finally, you can "mop up" remaining issues with the scanning/cleaning tools suggested in this support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.

But how would I know what to remove or keep in the uninstall program list?

I did disable the extensions but I would like to use some in the future.

Are you using a bookmark when you see the first error message ("No site configured at this address")?

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)

"MyStart" and "StartPage" are completely different. I agree that Startpage.com is cool. It's the other one you don't want.

No, the "no site" error message seems to appear with non-bookmarked sites.

You probably know what programs you installed intentionally. For the others, check the source: is it a company you know and trust, such as Microsoft, Adobe, etc.? If you don't recall installing that program and don't recognize the publisher, I suggest removing it. Or if you want a second opinion, you could post the names of what you find here.
