I installed Thunderbird a few days ago and it worked fine for about 12 hours and then I got repeated messages saying "certificate error" and that the app detected potential security threats. After that, I could no longer access my emails. My email provider is Telia, a company in Sweden, which is where I live. I called Telia but they say the problem is on your side. They are not aware of any security threats.

Should I go to the advanced settings and say I accept the risk and just continue?

Hi, As I mentioned above [edited from public] @telus.net which is a gmail account has been acting strangely. "Recently my [edited from public] @telus.net account has stopped saving my sent messages. Also when I open an email it then disappears." I have checked the All and Important files but they are gone and I can't figure out what is happening. Any help in discovering why messages that I read disappear would be helpful. Thanks

I use to click on the links in my emails to go to the sender's website. Now they are no longer working. Are there any ideas on how to get the links working again?

When I export my private key and add more user IDs to it, GPG adds extra feature flags that apparently aren't supported in Thunderbird. I've tried following the directions here, but GPG doesn't seem to do anything different with the --rfc4880 flag, and so importing the key back into Thunderbird still gets the "unsupported features" warning.

Even when creating a key in Sequoia-PGP, it seems to add an extra notation? And that also seems to make Thunderbird say it's an extra unsupported feature.

Am I doing something wrong?

My Thunderbird (version 115.12.2) is running on a Windows 11 system. My profile has multiple accounts configured as IMAP to multiple email services. I also have the Status Bar and Activity indicator enabled. Randomly, both indicators will show busy for an extended period of time. When I view this in the Activity Manager I see one or more folders hung for 10 or 20 minutes downloading one message out of several. This occurs in multiple accounts and servers.

I have researched this and attempted the fixes presented. I have cleared the cache files and compacted and rebuild email folders as suggested, but the slow update still occurs.

Then I decided to try and capture a ProMon.exe trace to see what is happening. What I found was Thunderbird.exe was spending all of the time while hung access the following file: C:\Users\MyUser\AppData\LocalLow\Intel\ ShaderCache\4a5eb0e65e559fc08e65ecb2fa9d650817ae895582a7a7ede162866d3e47a05a, like it was stuck in a loop.

When Thunderbird is operating normally, it is accessing this file but only for short period of times. Research says that it is ok to delete the files in this folder. I did that and it seemed to help for awhile. But it started happening again.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Is there a Windows thing to look further into? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was recently required to change my 2 Spectrum email account passwords. I am able to log in to one of them, but not the other, even though the settings in Thunderbird are the same. It shows at the bottom of the screen that it connects to the mail.twc.com server, but the login fails. I am able to log in to my email on the Spectrum website with the same email address and password that I'm using in Thunderbird, so the password is correct. This used to work before I changed my passwords. The email that I can't connect to has a @ in the password so I'm wondering if that special character is throwing it off.

I am getting sick and tired of Thunderbird freezing while writing an email, screen graying out, and having to close the program and lose the material without it having been saved in any way. This has been happening for two or three weeks.

Thunderbird is able to receive email but unable to send email. I have confirmed with my provider that I can send email through their web portal. Mail provider is Comcast. ISP is T-Mobile Virus is Bitdefender build 27.0.55.279 Windows 11 Thunderbird version 144.0.1 64bit SMTP settings attached

I have an email from "Wells Fargo" that would auto forward to another email. I removed the forwarding to that other email but Thunderbird keeps forwarding that email each time WF sends an update. Do I need to delete the WF filters and restart Thunderbird or is there something deeper that needs to be done? Thanks for your help kenb

Here is a message I receive when I try to send email from my Hotmail account in Thunderbird.

Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: Cannot connect to SMTP server 52.96.165.242 (52.96.165.242:587), connect error 10060.

After years of using TB I suddenly lost ability to send messages though could still receive. At suggestion of outgoing message server PlusNet I changed various settings. Now my TB will neither send or receive. I wish to keep my care4free email address. How can I reinstall or recover TB? At present can only send or receive using webmail but do not find this equal to TB

Yes..I've read the solution for this. Create seperate SMPT accounts with their own unique user name connected to the account in question and make sure they have the right smpt user name etc (tools>account settings>outgoing server (SMPT)> EDIT.

I haver a list of all my hotmail (and yahoo) accounts in there with the appropriate SMPT settings and user names unique to each account.

But when sending an email, it STILL errors-out with something like 'user1@hotmail.com not allowed to send mail as username2@hotmail.co.uk'.

I don't know where to go with this - thunderbird appears to insist on mixing up the identities despite me telling it otherwise.

Hello everyone. Thunderbird version 144.0.1 is malfunctioning and doesn't save the calendar password in the password vault. Upon restart, Thunderbird prompts for it again. All suggested solutions don't work. (Windows 10 Pro) Thank you.

Hello! I have a calendar connected via DAVMail (Exchange Server 2019), everything works. But when I create an event in the calendar and start adding participants, autocomplete does not work (there is no list to choose from the address book).

I have an LDAP address book configured for Global Address List (GAL) exchange.

I also imported the address book to Cardbook via .vcf.

How do I set up autocomplete in the calendar? (When writing an email, autocomplete works)

I can't install one of my Microsoft email accounts (the other two, yes). I solve this problem in the desktop app with an Owl subscription. How can I make it work also in the mobile app? It's my main account! Thank you.

I have found that Thunderbird fits my needs for a nice looking email client (i have tried them all). But one thing annoys me endlessly. I use Thunderbird on my Macbook and move it between using the laptop screen and attaching it to a dock with a 49" monitor.

Using Thunderbird on a 49" makes the UI almost unreadable. Then i have adjusted the "pixels" from -1.0 to 1.25 which then looks nice. Starting the macbook on its own build-in screen, makes the UI tiny again and i need to adjust the pixels to 2.25. But switching the pixel 2-3 times a days is very annoying.

Is there a way to do this dynamically? Is there a way to easily switch "profile" or should this be something for a feature request for the App to detect the screen resolution and adapt to that by a factor?

A search showed that others have experienced this same error message, but as far as I can tell, they all were unable to access their email. These messages began appearing about a month ago. They pop up in Troubleshooting Mode. They did not in Windows Safe Mode. AVG and ZoneAlarm are not the culprits.
