How do I forward a web page or link when those options don't work?

I use IE browser and Thunderbird mail. Under XP I could forward a web page to a friend by clicking on the File from the Menu at the top of the web page, then click the word Send, and that gave me two choices, Send Page or Send Link. On my new laptop with Windows 8, those two choices are gray and I can't send a web in that manner any more. What is wrong? It's there but I can't use it.

What email client did you use in XP?

I'd just copy the URL from the browser's address bar and paste it into a new message....

OTOH, the File|Email Link… option in Firefox works perfectly here with Thunderbird. Maybe you need a better browser. ;-)

What's wrong with being able to click on Send from menu, and then choose SEND PAGE or SEND LINK.? That was quick and easy.

Make sure that the default mail program is set properly.
