After Firefox did an update I opened up Firefox and ALL my history was gone. I still have my bookmarks. But I need my history for the past few weeks and months. I've tried to search and find it through using an Index.dat analyzer. But when I've tried to use it, nothing was found. I've not shut down my computer since as I want to get this back. How do I do so?

Firefox stores the history in places.sqlite (SQLite database), so you would need an older backup of this file.

You can look at a utility to browse System Restore points.

This didn't solve anything. Also, the "solution" doesn't provide how to see what's in the profile files to see if its even useful to try and use and contains the missing history. So apparently Firefox can just arbitrarily lose all history without warning and with no way to get it back. So that a user must remember to constantly and repeatedly backup each days usage just to make sure history won't disappear! That's not a very reliable browser. Maybe you should tell people about this so that they can reconsider its use. I used to always recommend Firefox until I have found this out. I'll have to reconsider this recommendation to my clients and in my service work.
