I have been trying to update this firefox now for months. I have been asking and asking but no-one bothers to come back to me!!! And please, I know how to update! It doesn't work. My "about" shows Firefox is updated, yet is keeps on asking me to update and won't let me use eg Netflix before I update. This is so frustrating but you guys are just not interested in helping. To tell me how to update is obvious - I know how to do it, but it won't work!!! Don't know whether I should just switch to another browser rather.

Hi spinx, could you check whether your Firefox has a policy that blocks the updater? That would be listed on the About Policies page. To open that page, type or paste about:policies in the address bar and press the Enter key to load it. The first panel should show whether you have any Active policies. (If it says "The Enterprise Policies service is inactive." then you do not have any active policies.)

As suggested in your earlier thread, if the built-in updater doesn't work, you can download a full installer and when you run it, Firefox will use that installer to update your Firefox. You can get a full installer here:

https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release

Does that method work?

If the above does not help,

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders.
