Multiple Tabs: How can I tell Firefox it is OK to open lots of tabs all at the same time??

more options

I am an IT guy for a long time, and like all others, I have a large series of webpages/forums/news sites I read every morning. As the web has developed, websites demand that I open the entire website to view pages. No problem, I understand this. So I wrote my own personal website, were I click a button, and it opens all off my websites at once, over 100 (I read the comics also every morning). This is blocked by default, again, understandably. BUT There used to be a way to over ride this behavior, and permit Firefox to open many tabs at once. but my old config no longer works. So my question is; How can I tell Firefox it is OK to open lots of tabs all at the same time??

Hi blankmonkey, are you getting the warning about opening a lot of tabs, or is it a popup block?

You can modify the warning this way:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste warn and pause while the list is filtered

(3) To raise the warning threshold from the default of 15 to, say, 50: double-click the browser.tabs.maxOpenBeforeWarn preference to display an editing field, and change the value to 50 then press Enter or click the blue check mark button to save the change.

(4) If you never want a warning no matter how many links there are, you could disable the warning by double-clicking the browser.tabs.warnOnOpen preference to switch the value from true to false -- I guess the worst thing that could happen is crashing Firefox with too many tabs?

More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox.

Hello,

I didn't have exact solution of your Problem, but have an alternative solution.

Open Multiple URLs - Firefox Extension ( Support Forum is not allowing me to put links in answers, so you have to search it manually ).

This addon will surely help you.

Thanks.

If you need to open 100 tabs or more each day then setting the browser.tabs.maxOpenBeforeWarn pref to 50 won't help and you need a lot larger setting.

You can also consider to reserve a special window with these link and use Session Restore to restore this window. You would have to clear the cache when you close Firefox to prevent getting outdated pages because of Firefox loading the pages from the disk cache. If you enable restore tabs on demand then this is likely a lot faster.
