I can't bookmark some pages
It seems that if I have previously bookmarked a page, I can't bookmark it a second time. This is needed if I delete or move a bookmark. Is this an example of Fjirefox trying to be more clever by half? Whatever it is, it's really frustrating if I can't locate something bookmarked last week, and it's gone this week (I need to bookmark pages because I have bad memory).

Sorry you're having a problem, but that's been a feature in Firefox since Firefox 3.0 when the Tags feature was introduced. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/categorizing-bookmarks-make-them-easy-to-find
As far as having duplicates of a bookmark, you can copy a bookmark in the Library window, under the Organize menu.
And you can save a duplicate via drag'n'drop to the Bookmarks Toolbar, to the Bookmarks Sidebar, or into the Bookmarks Menu if the Menu Bar is showing. Just click-hold on the website image in the left-corner of a Tab and drag it to where you want the Bookmark saved.
What's missing is the "Bookmark this page" selection if the page was previously bookmarked. Was this a "feature" in earlier versions? I get what you're saying about dragging a link to the toolbar, but I don't see how to save to "Bookmarks" folders a page that was previously bookmarked, if the previous bookmark is gone. Just dragging it into the chaos of the toolbar isn't any help. It's got to go to a folder under "Bookmarks".
You can also make a copy of a bookmark by holding down the Ctrl key and drag the bookmark to a different position. This also work in the bookmarks sidebar.

Firefox 2 and earlier versions allowed the user to bookmark the same page as many times as they wanted. Where with Firefox 3 (released on June 17, 2008) the Tags feature was introduced, and was intended to reduce the necessity of having multiples of the same bookmark.
I don't like or use Tags, I like the "old way" and I told you how to accomplish that in 4 different ways that I have tested and used.
Mostly, I prefer to use the Sidebar (a habit I developed in the late 90's while using IE5), so {Ctrl + B} is a trained left-hand response when I decide to save a new bookmark; drag the website icon from the tab into the Sidebar to save it.
