How to make Firefox open local font file for local page?

Hi,

I'm working on a web site whose owner wants an unusual font : papyrus

I have the papyrus.ttf file in the root directory of this site, both locally and on the server.

In <style>, I have : @font-face {

   font-family: papyrus;
   src: url(papyrus.ttf);

}

And I add : font-family:papyrus; among the <style> settings for requested parts of the page

This functions fine on the server, but not locally. So to view the pages I have to upload them after every modification, and this is a bit tedious.

Is there a way to make it function locally, please? Either by adding some more code to the pages or by changing firefox settings?

Firefox can open image files locally, <a href> functions both locally and externally, so why wouldn't font files also function locally?

A workaround could be to make Firefox display all web pages in papyrus, but this would be a last resort...

I like the button that shows the status of anything I elect to download (e.g. an image to put in an error report).

However about a week ago I started getting a pulldown style display in addition to the little status icon. Is there any way to shut that off? It's annoying.

Since updating, "Exit Full Screen" now causes viewed page to become a narrow sliver at the top of the screen, and the page unusable. I typically drag pictures from my desktop to Facebook, etc., but can no longer do that. (I know there is another way to access pictures from the desktop, but it is currently unreliable on my machine, which is very slow and wonky right now.) Can I revert to the former function where "Exit Full Screen" just makes the page smaller but still usable?

A few days ago I got the new Firefox version 103.0.1. And now áll websites I visit are larger than they were before, I didn't change anything and zoomlevel in e.g. about:preferences is still 100%

Now, with all the websites I visit I have to manually change the zoomlevel to 90%, to have them at the same level as before the update.

What do I have to change to have the zoomlevel set permanently at 90% ?

I've tried numerous times the "solution" Mozilla gives me: "Change zoomlevel in about:preferences to 90% but that doesn't work: no matter how many times I close Firefox, and restart, or restart the entire computer, it still defaults to 100%, and I still have to change the zoomlevel to 90% for each website I visit.

Good morning:

I updated FF 91 ESR to 102 ESR and I'm not liking the Print interface. The main problem is that the printer properties are not available. The printers default is to print from tray 2, but sometimes I want to print from tray 1.

If it can be changed then I prefer code that I add to User.js "user_pref("print.tab_modal.enabled", false); " is being ignored.

thanks Norbert

Firefox behavior with virtual desktops in Windows 10

Hello dear Firefox experts,

I have been using Firefox for years and of course I would like to continue doing so. :-)

I work with Windows 10 and have learned to appreciate the virtual desktops, which can be set up via the key combination "Windows + Tab". About the desktops can then be distinguished, for example, in "Office" and "Private".

In total, I have actively set up 4 different desktops.

FF I have set up as the "default app" in the Windows settings.

Now it is the case that I have a Firefox window open in the "private desktop", for example.

But when I work in the "office desktop" and click on a URL, the office desktop automatically switches to the private desktop and opens the URL in the FF already opened there in a new tab! :-(

So I have to remember before to open a new Firefox window in the office desktop to display the desired page also on this desktop.

Unfortunately, this doesn't always work.

If I work in the meantime in another of the 4 active desktops and use Firefox there and return to the office desktop and want to open a URL there again, the desktop jumps back to where I last used the already opened FF. This is quite annoying in the long run.

That's why I ran a test today with Google Chrome and MS Edge and defined each of them as the default app for testing.

Stupidly, these two browsers work exactly as I want them to. If I have already opened one of these browsers in another desktop, the URL will still open in the current desktop and any additional URL as another tab will correctly open in the current desktop.

If I now switch to the private desktop and open a URL there, it will correctly open in a new tab in this desktop.

I hope I was able to illustrate my "problem" so far?

Now my question? How can I change the behavior in FF? This seems to be a standard of FF in contrast to both other browser programs. Disabling in the FF settings "Open links in tabs instead of new windows" seems to be only a rudimentary solution;

but then a new window is opened every time, which is also not useful.

Can something be adjusted in the "deeper" settings?

Many thanks in advance for your tips.

Best regards, Georg

Firefox 104.0 64-bit

I hid a photo on a webpage to see if its space would collapse and bring the text closer toger so I could make a screeenshot. I right-clicked on the photo and selected "Block Element". The photo disappeared, but the space it had occupied remained (outline of photo, filled with background color). I right clicked in the space, but there was no "Unblock Element" to select.

I looked online for an answer to this question, which seems not to have been addressed specifically. One of the results suggested using an add-on called Firebug; another suggested uBlock. I guess another question I might ask would be, why would it require an add-on to unblock an element that was blocked using Firefox?

It is not vital that I get the photo back, as I can contrive to never visit that particular webpage again, but my inquiring mind wants to know how to unblock an element I have blocked—particularly since it was so easy to block it in the first place.

Thank you.

My Windows PC apparently crashed when I tried to Hibernate. I knew this because when starting up the PC state was not persisted. I started Firefox (v97 x64) and it would not load any websites. The about:config page loaded.

I was at a loss as to how to resolve this as I could find no advice for this problem.

I thought I would try Safe Mode. Unexpectedly, just starting in Safe Mode resolved the issue without doing anything else. I am now back to normal.

I'm curious to know what just starting in Safe Mode did to resolve the issue. I also want to broadcast this as I did not find this as a potential solution.

Hi there,

I'm trying to see if there is a way to modify how the Firefox "Location" prompts ("Do you want to give this site access to your location? Allow/Block") are displayed on the screen. Although, microphone and camera access prompts are also relevant to me.

My use case is mobile Linux and similar to some of the problems solved by https://gitlab.com/postmarketOS/mobile-config-firefox

If anybody is knowledgeable on the subject and could point me to relevant source or terminology used by Firefox to help narrow my search, I'd appreciate it. Is it possible to modify these prompts with any of the built-in CSS modifiers like userChrome.css or anything else?

Thanks!
