Tried clicking on search bar, then using up and down arrows but only seven previous searches appeared with no chronological basis, the earliest from 3 months ago, the most recent from three days ago. How did these get picked from the hundreds of searches I've done in that period, and is there any way that I could see all of my searches, or at least the ones from the past week?

I recently upgraded to the latest version of Firefox and am having an annoying problem that's difficult to explain. I frequently have a lot of tabs open at once due to my work, and this seems minor, but it's driving me insane:

If I have multiple tabs open, and I click one, it automatically shows it as the furthest right tab. It doesn't actually move it, it just focuses it there. I cannot read a tab that's on the left side of my screen without my tabs appearing to zoom to the left, and making it seem as though the chosen tab is on the far right. (Again, it doesn't actually move it- the later tabs are still further right, they have just been moved off-screen.)

I've never noticed this behavior in any other version of Firefox, and I *hate* it. I generally need a group of tabs centered for quick access; I do not want each one that I read to appear on the far right of my screen. I then have to waste time scrolling to get a group of tabs centered again so I can see them at a quick glance, every single time I click on a different tab. I don't even see what purpose this serves, except to be annoying.

Is this meant to happen, and if so is there some way I can stop it?

I have been using the default about:newtab for new tabs, although I had modified some settings, including at one point setting browser.newtabpage.storageVersion to 1 as suggested somewhere. I'm also using TabMixPlus.

Anyway, since upgrading to FF33 it looks worse - aesthetically 4 tiles wide and 1 deep with a search bar is not what I want, and it also lost my previous most frequently visited page (BBC weather). I noticed that if you hit F5 to refresh though, it does respect browser.newtabpage.columns and show 5x3 tiles.

I don't see this listed at among the issues at https://wiki.mozilla.org/QA/Newtab_page_Tiles/Test_Plan. Why it should show something different after refresh is particuarly odd though - is it possible to use browser.newtabpage.columns all the time?

I have the current version of Firefox installed on my new laptop. Earlier this week, I tried downloading and installing a free font from what looked like an excellent source for fonts. However, instead of the font I was wanting to install, all I got was a mess of proograms that I did not want, and had no use for. One of them, snap.do, a Google-clone search site inserted itself into Firefox and began restoring all settings to their defaults. (I have taken care of that.)

Even after uninstalling all of the programs and running both an anti virus scan, an anti malware scan, and even after cleaning up my hard drive with CCleaner and rebooting, two problems remain. First, on every new web page (even within the same websites) up to four or five blank "Ad by SmartChoices|Close" lines appear, usually scattered through the web page. These must be closed out before page navigation becomes fully functional. Second, on some websites when I move from one sheet within a website to another, while the new page is loading, the download is redirected to a different website I absolutely have no interest in, and do not want showing up in my history.

I have checked, and these problems do not show up on Internet Explorer, so it looks like it is just Firefox that is plagued. Thus I have two questions: what is the best way to get rid of these problems? Second, how do I report a malicious website that clearly needs to be blocked?

Note: your educated guesses about my current browser & os are spot on. However, what does 5.1.30514.0 refer to?
