Since the task limit option seems to have been obliterated? I believe the many more "programs" and the events they create for windows to handle is causing all sorts of virtual memory problems. Changing win10 advanced system settings from performance for programs to background services seems to have restored Firefox performance in my case, see: 10 advanced system settings win10 advanced system settings performance programs vs background services Is there an about:config option that would allow one to achieve the same "programs" limiting option as before? This laptop has 16 gig of memory and I used to successfully have even better Firefox performance with windows virtual memory turned off, but eventually I would get crashes. I can understand why Firefox was modified in a way to better localize the source of crashes, but in my case it has degraded performance. Thanks Mozilla for a great product I have valued for years!!!!

After updating firefox to 112 it now starts with ugly white ui dummy before actually loading proper UI. Screenshot attached. It was not happening on firefox 111.0.1. It happens every time I launch firefox 112. Of course nothing in changelog is said about changing performance or UI so I have no idea what is causing this.

My profile folder get huge!

My FF gets slow, uses a lor of RAM & the profile folder size goes huge.

So, while trying to locate the folder content that can be deleted- I came across a folder named: "to-be-removed".

[ ... AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ <profile folder> \storage ]

1. What is the purpose of this folder? 2. Is it safe to delete all of it's content(to empty it)?

When I try to print specifically in black and white, Firefox starts the printing and send the pages to the printer for printing. But this process does not get beyond 2 pages. After 30-60 seconds of loading, the 2 pages print and firefox just shows a generic error "That an error has occurred".

My testing: - Remove and re-add printer -> Same issue - Try in Acrobat -> Same issue - Try in Chrome -> No issue - Try with other Printer -> Works when not B/W, same issue with B/W - Try with same printer not B/W -> Works - Reset printer settings manually -> Same issue - Tried to delete Firefox Caches/Cookies etc. -> Same issue - Reset Firefox Print settings -> Same issue - Firefox already up to date - Printed to Microsoft Print to PDF, then Printed that -> Works - Opened the file in Word: > Noticed that there are black pages when looking at the print preview > Noticed in Adobe Acrobat, that some pages are wider and some slimmer. > After more testing: The printer prints the first page and the 1st page after a wider page, then stops. > So if the 1st Page is a wider page -> Prints 2 pages > If the 1st page is slimmer -> Only prints the first page. (Filetype is already PDF/A)

Currently the workaround is to set Acrobat as default option when opening Acrobat and this should solve the issue. But this seems like some form of bug when Firefox has different PDF Formats/Page width/? (not sure what is is either).

Id like to avoid downloading an extension, so do any of you know of a better solution?

Issue #1) If computer is left idle for more than 15 min. and the browser is left open with some tabs when resuming to use the browser, it does not load pages any more and eventually times out. This forces to have to restart the browser each time after some idle time.

Issue #2) images do not load or only first couple of images load and then rest of the page images do not load. This is not related to security setting and so on since I have done all the obvious trouble-shooting steps already.

These are very frustrating issues and I am very close to switching off of Firefox.

When I try to upload a file through Google chat, Firefox crashes on the image preview of a file that is selected. When I restart Firefox, it uploads fine on the first attempt. If I continue to upload images, Firefox crashes again. This has been happening over the past few weeks. I'm using a mac desktop and Firefox version 113.0.1 - is there a way to disable the image preview when uploading files? Thanks in advance.

When I use CTRL+V or even right-click to paste any text, Firefox crashes and displays an error. My Firefox version is the latest, 113.0.1. I tried entering safe mode and disabling all plugins, but the error still occurs. I also tried reinstalling Firefox, but the issue persists. However, other browsers work fine. I would greatly appreciate your assistance. Here is my error report:

For Windows version 10.0.19045 Build 19045 If using Firefox Version 113.0.1 (64-bit) in Windows 10 and in the following state:

 Firefox is open and window is maximized.
 Firefox Full Screen is toggled OFF.
 Windows taskbar setting "Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode" is toggled ON.

Then the Windows taskbar will not display when the cursor is place at the bottom of the monitor screen. If the Windows taskbar setting "Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode" is toggled OFF. Then the Windows taskbar will also not display. Changing the ON/OFF state of any other Windows taskbar display setting in any combination does not fix the failure.

I use Firefox on Ubuntu 22.04, and my system has 16GB RAM. I have been facing this problem of frequent crashes for the past few months. By crash, I mean not Firefox alone, but the entire system. I use several apps and run several processes that require great compute resources, often simultaneously. I have narrowed the cause of frequent system crashes to Firefox alone; the system rarely crashes when I use other resource-heavy apps. Due to this, I have to restart my system several times a day.

Before this problem arose, I would use multiple tabs (including YouTube, often 10+, close to 20) and multiple windows (2+). Such usage very rarely caused crashes, which is why it is surprising that Firefox now causes the entire system to simply hang sometimes with as low as 3-4 tabs.

I have disabled Hardware Acceleration, refreshed Firefox, even tried disabling WebGL. I also tested it after removing all add-ons, but it still didn't help (I use only 2 add-ons: a simple wide-spectrum ad-blocker and an EPUB reader). Even in troubleshoot mode, Firefox will cause my system to heat up, although it takes some more effort to crash in this case. I use one of the standard themes, so it could not have been the problem.

Many people report Firefox crashes, but in my case, Firefox causes my entire system to crash. How do I fix this issue? Thank you in advance.

I have Yahoo Mail+ and Gmail open in tabs (as well as MyYahoo, Yahoo Financial and Google Calendar) and both email systems intermittently declare they lose internet access. Sometimes they will continue to show current emails and sometimes not. I also have a second instance of Firefox running with MyYahoo and Start.me. All other apps on Windows 10 retain internet access as well as other non email tabs within Firefox. This does NOT happen with Chrome and the instances have increased in frequency so that I may have to switch back to using the Chrome browser. I test websites and need immediate access to email responses. I am willing to provide debug information, but don't know what or how I should report this condition. Until I get feedback I will be forced to utilize Chrome or (gasp - Edge) as my browser. I purchases a new computer that had Firefox installed on it already.

After Windows 11 setup...

1st starting Firefox up I got a message saying:

The program can’t start because VCRUNTIME140.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

After, it would load but, was getting every time I loaded it up or a new page: Gah. Your tab just crashed

I did all the solution I could find for Firefox crashing (plus more google results): https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-crashes-closing-or-quitting

THIS DID NOT WORK!

But then I decided to focus on the VCRUNTIME140.dll is missing issue.

And here is what solved it for me:

1. Visit https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads
2. Go to the section Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022, and download the following executable file: vc_redist.x64.exe
3. Install this file
4. Restart the computer and run Firefox

Hi Firefox won't stick to the taskbar after a reboot of the pc. And it is also showing that it likes that it is install even after a totally clean re-installation of it.

Firefox stopped opening Amazon, Youtube and others. This started after the last update of windows and Firefox. I have spent the last 2 days trying to find answers on the help page but nothing seems to work.

Up to 10 minutes ago I was able to access my own website and my own blog. Now all of a sudden I get told that there is a problem and it is a security issue blah. This is obviously nonsense as I have three other browser and they can all reach my own website and my website sever (dashboard) which is with a reputable company that scans my website regularly and has all the correct certificates etc. It is very annoying because up to 10 minutes ago I was using it no problem. I cleared the cache and reloaded. Same problem.

The problem is YOUR BROWSER. I had this once before with a bank and with a govt website. Suddenly they stopped loading. I had to switch to different browsers for particular sites. Months later after your updates they work again.

Please fix your problems. You should do better. Firefox is starting to fall behind. Too many errors.

Games on PCH.com are not loading since I downloaded the last update about two days ago. Help me by showing me how to delete it or tell me how to fix this please.

Cuando maniobro un poco con Google Maps (acercar o alejar el mapa, sobre todo, pero también simplemente moviéndolo) se me cuelga; no Firefox: todo el sistema, tengo que reinicializar la máquina, porque no me funcionan ni el ratón, ni el teclado. Y eso me ocurre desde hace mucho tiempo -quizá dos o tres años-, no es de ahora.

Mantengo siempre actualizado el sistema operativo (Linux, ahora Mint, pero hasta hace un año fue Ubuntu; si bien Mint está basado en Ubuntu) y Firefox. Ya no sé qué hacer: me resisto sustituir Firefox por Chrome; llevo muchos años, prácticamente desde que existe, usando Firefox y siempre me ha dado un resultado estupendo, pero esto de Google Maps me amarga la existencia. He intentado utilizar Open Street Map, pero ni de lejos tiene la funcionalidad de Google Maps.

¿A alguien más le sucede esto? ¿Alguna solución?

Surfchex cams won't load on Firefox on iMac. I've changed settings to allow popups and video playback on the Surfchex site. They still won't load. Working on my phone and while using Chrome on iMac. Other live cams will play. Strange issue with Surfchex.com. Help please.
