After installing Firefox 3.6.4 and version 3.6.6 respectively, there was a process running in the background, called plugin-container.exe. It immediately began to eat my CPU, my RAM and my goldfish. I have a fish tank in my room and after installing the FF update, my goldfish disappeared. Can I get a new goldfish from Mozilla?

(locking this old thread. If you have this issue then please create a new thread - c)

Not sure if its because of the plugin container update but issues began around that time. When I open firefox sometimes its frozen, all i can do is close it down and open a new window. it does not say "(not responding)" like when it crashes, i just cannot type, click bookmark or anything. in particular the site on http://forum.breakbeat.co.uk/, to post messages on there an new box opens, this also freezes in the same manner, only works again if firefox is reset, or sometimes begins to work again by itself, 10 minutes later or so....

PLEASE NOTE: this is not the usual form of crashing, or whatever the technical term is, it simply freezes, yet i can click the "x" in the corner and it instantly recognizes that. when a box opens in a site that crashes, i can still use other tabs/windows of firefox no problem, just not the site... the site is not experiencing issues, already asked them.

thanks

Since the new version of Firefox that was released a few days ago, I am seeing huge performance issues on most websites that are using the Flash plug-in (I have the latest version of Flash). Each website with flash-content that is bigger than a small video results in 60+ percent CPU usage and Firefox is highly unresponsive and getting almost unusable after a few seconds. It looks like the newly introduced plug-in container is making things even worse, not better. Is there a way to turn this feature off other than downgrading to an older version?

I've already downloaded the latest update 3.6.6 which updated the timeout for plug-ins and I've manually set this value to 60 seconds, but I don't think this is the actual problem. It looks like the new plug-in container and Firefox together are consuming way more CPU + memory to run Flash content than Firefox alone did before.

I experience strange things with Firefox and Flash. Youtube Videos will not be recognized properly and I have to click the play button not once but a couple of times (up to 10 times) until the button gets triggered. Even worse with camera-recognition (for example on Facebook when you want to take a photo with your webcam): the question if I want to allow access to the camera pops up but I can not click anything. It just does not react at all. I already restarted in safe-mode with all add-ons enabled and it did not help...

Drop-Down Menus Not Working

I have Windows 7, and when I installed Firefox, almost every time I use a drop-down menu, the menu will display for a split second, but will not stay up. Drop-down menus work fine in IE, but not in Firefox. I have to use the directional arrows to select from the list of choices, and this is problematic with menus with many choices. This happens every time I use a drop-down menu, so the problem is not site- specific.

Windows 7

Hey there, I don't know if you have noticed this, but in Firefox, old and new versions alike, trying to do a search on a resulting page while not being logged into a google account does nothing.

If you search from www.google.com while not signed into their google accounts, the resulting page no longer allows you to use another search.

Tried hitting enter, nothing. tried hitting the search button, nothing.

Switched to the pc next to me, same results.

asked multiple coworkers to do the same thing and they all had similar results. This is across platforms. PPC macs, newer intel based macs, pcs.

I went to www.google.com and searched for "this is ok"

which sent me to: http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=this+is+ok&aq=f&aqi=g1&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=C5rII5XIuTI7YOIXyzASyxoD_CwAAAKoEBU_QYOqu&fp=36ec6be010d257f

I then typed in "this is not"

http://www.google.com/#hl=en&safe=off&q=this+is+not&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=this+is+not&gs_rfai=&fp=dd2d1939af06a5a

The query string changes but nothing happens... I'm now at my box at home and it's an even DIFFERENT version of Firefox. It's not breaking in IE or chrome. 3.5.8 and up causing problems.

It seems to be a bit of their code that they changed which is doing it. I'm not using any addons or plugins. but on a different computer, I had a console open and here was the error:

F.prototype._rce=function(a,b) ;F.prototype._rd=function(a,b,c) ;F.prototype._t=function() ;F.prototype._rt=function() ;F.prototype._i=function(a) ;F.prototype._c=function() };F.prototype._ns=function() ;

reference to undefined property c[a] on line 50...

I hope Google isn't trying to break Firefox! :(

The wonderful Bing/Zugo fake search tool decided to come knocking at my door today. I did everything and got rid of it easily thanks to the support forums here.

However, now I have a new problem. On occasion, so far only when I'm on Facebook, a new window will open up randomly, which leads to a bogus website. I can close it, but I know it's stealing information or something similar. I know this because it will make a fake post on my Facebook page, which I've seen people experience on occasion.

I'm worried about this stealing other information besides that, so I'd like to get rid of this. I've done a Malwarebytes scan, which got rid of any remnant of the Bing/Zugo fake, but to no avail it seems, and I've searched for other remnants and found no solution. I even tried uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling it, which didn't work either.

Thanks in advance.
