Location bar can search history 3+ days ago, but the History library can't find them.

When I type in a past history result from 3 or more days ago into the location bar, it'll give me history results up to at least a month ago. However, when I try to search the History library, those same results don't show up. I may have accidentally told Firefox to delete history on exit while playing with the privacy settings a few days ago, which might explain why I now only have the "Today" and "Yesterday" history groups.

Things I've tried to fix the problem:

-Safemode (no change)

-Changing the date on my computer to a few days ahead, then using Firefox to create a new history entry with the new date so I can search history in the past seven days (no change apart from being able to search history from "seven" days ago)

-Copying the places.sqlite file to a newly created profile (no change; still unable to find history in the library more than three days old even though the location bar can)

Judging from the last method, do I just have a messed up places.sqlite file? Or is this possible to fix?

Thanks.

Everything suggests that you only have 2 days worth of history. By default, the location bar displays not only history items but also bookmarks. The latter are marked with a ★ star icon on the right.
You can limit your address bar filters to history items only by typing a ^ in front of the keywords, e.g.

^ location mozilla support

You can try running a full check of the places database with the following add-on. You may want to first create a backup copy of your places.sqlite file while Firefox is closed.

Thanks for the reply!

I suspected that the entries were bookmarks, but discovered that they weren't unfortunately. Searching the library in the bookmarks section brought up nothing either.

I've tried out that Places Maintenance add-on and all it did was remove/clean up the history entries that the library couldn't find (thanks for suggesting to back the file up first!), so it looks like the file did somehow corrupt.

Thank you Gingerbread for your help. :)
