how can I stop firefox from preventing pages to automatically redirect to another page
This problem was raised 2 years ago but was never resolved to the user then and the problem they were having the same one I came looking for an answer to.
I need to be able to allow individual sites to "automatically redirect" while preventing other sites from having that privilege.
As it is now, I use Opera to access the problem site when Firefox won't allow it. I REALLY DON'T want to change this setting universally.

Tools > options > advanced > general... then uncheck "warn me when websites try to redirect.
Do you know how the redirect is implemented?
It is my understanding that Firefox's built-in feature doesn't intercept JavaScript redirects, but if scripts are the problem, there might be a targeted way to block them or to hack them.

I should be able to ALLOW SOME pages while continuing to BLOCK OTHERS selectively.
If there is no way to do that now, please put it on the list of requests for future versions.
I'll keep using Opera in the mean time for my "problem" sites.

The setting in "Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

The ability to turn this "feature" off universally may be an accessibility option but the fact that it's on by default is indicative that it's there for protection from being automatically redirected. I REALLY DON'T want to loose that protection so I won't be disabling it. I'll use another browser that I've installed to get to websites my preferred browser (Firefox) won't work. I only switch browsers when the NEED arises. This request was prompted when I lost access to my credit union's "Bill Pay" site a couple of days ago.
After looking at the redirection list links provided above (thank you!), I don't see any that would accomplish my goal (and others) of being able to individually allow sites to automatically redirect. This is definitely a security issue (to me if not to the developers).
Just look at the way it's use is worded (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/advanced-settings-browsing-network-updates-encryption?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=settings-network-updates-and-encryption#w_general-tab) "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page: When this option is enabled, Firefox will prevent websites from redirecting you to another page, or automatically reloading."
Why would it "warn" you if it wasn't a protection from being automatically redirected? Rely on it to block sites from sending me to unintended pages and often leave pages that want to take me places I hadn't intended to go. Yes it definitely is a security feature.
That setting is off by default. If it has been turned on for you then an extension or security software may have toggled this setting.
You can see that on the about:config page page if you search for the accessibility.blockautorefresh pref.
To me, disabling this feature would be equivalent to disabling my anti-virus protection - something I would NEVER do.
I've been a long time user of Firefox and if it's off by default, I'll admit to years ago enabling it FOR PROTECTION from sites that want to redirect my browsing. It's saved me countless times from ending up on nefarious websites I would never think of visiting.
Disabling it is not an option.
I have same problem and want the same solution as described in this string of conversations. Same idea as being able to list "exemptions" for cookies, etc.

Serge07 did you check that link yourself? You will get a list of 192 addons of witch none will solve the problem, as far as I can see.

Looking on some site (eg reviewcentre dot com ) I try to get to airline reviews. The page flashes then redirs to google google . com/uds/afs?q=Airline%20Reviews&client= .... etc. then the page is blank. The blank happens presumably cuz i blocked google sites & associated cookies like gstatic and more. My question - is there a way around the redirect? I think of it (perhaps incorrectly) somewhat like a directory traverse in windows. suppose i knew the final url? Thanks
Hi LAGrosso95401, there are add-ons that can examine the links in a page and convert them to final URLs, if the final URLs are coded into the links. I can't remember the names off the top of my head, but perhaps something like that would work for you.

Hi me4all55, that probably will be helpful for some users, but the poster here is hoping for a site-by-site block on redirects, and that feature does not exist (yet?) in Firefox.
