profile overwritten in error - is there a way to get it back?!

I used Mozbackup to save my bookmarks and other profile info on my computer and then restored it onto my partners computer on my login - however in doing so I have managed to overwrite her profile. There is now only one profile folder (mine). Is there any way I can recover her profile info - especially bookmarks? Is there a recovery program I can use to find it lurking somewhere? I tried system restore to no avail.

You can try using a program such a recuva to try to recover the profile, however it's possible that it has been overwitten on the hard drive, in which case, no, there is no way to get the profile back if you didn't make a backup somewhere else.

Did you also overwrite or replace the JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder?

That is not very likely if you copied files from a MozBackup archive to a profile.
In that case you should be able to restore the bookmarks from the most recent JSON backup that has her bookmarks.

Maybe you can restore a previous version of the some files.

Right click: Properties > Previous Versions:

Thanks cor-el. The old JSON files were not in the usual backup place and I tried recuva (thanks Tylerdowner) but no lock. However restore previous versions worked a treat. You saved the day, thank you.
