Since I updated Firefox t0 14.0.1 I've been plagued with script issues which I've already posted but no fix so far. Now I keep received Java Script issues and can't access the page/website that needs them.

I've checked all the suggested things that could cause this issue but none of them help.

Firefox is up to date. Java is up to date. Flash is up to date.

Any suggestions for fixing this are appreciated.

Is javascript enabled in Options > Content? See this page. http://kb.mozillazine.org/JavaScript

Yes.

That was the first thing I checked and as I stated have gone through all other troubleshooting suggestions.

Do those messages show which script is causing the problem?

That might give an indication of the source of the problem.

I assume that you've already tried Safe mode?

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Here's the message I receive each time I attempted to access Hotmail.

Windows Live ID symbol

JavaScript required to sign in

Windows Live ID requires JavaScript to sign in. This web browser either does not support JavaScript, or scripts are being blocked.

To find out whether your browser supports JavaScript, or to allow scripts, see the browser's online help.

I'll create a new profile and test that.

I did as you suggested and created a new profile. Should not try to multi task. I accidentally hit delete all files. Grrr!

So I guess I'm back to a blank canvas as everything is gone.

Thanks for your help...even though I screwed it up.

I accidently hit delete all files.

When you start up in the Profile Manager, your earlier profiles are all gone?? What about the oldest profile that you used before you tried the Reset? (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../933958#answer-357826)

Hi titicaca, when you say "a window appears," what is the message in the window? Can you capture a screen shot and post it here? (use the attach button below the area where you type)

I did a search of all Firefox files and the only profile there is from 2009.

It's fine, it was my stupidity and wasn't paying complete attention while doing it. I think I've managed to set everything that same way I had it. And I just imported the books marks from Chrome, as they were up to date, and I'd be using them here.

Nice share info. Firefox 15 update, I use no matter what. Thanks http://www.frivgroup.name/, http://www.friv2juegos.org, http://www.friv2kizi.com, http://www.frivkizi.org

Firefox 15+ versions will move the old profile folder to an "Old Firefox Data-##" folder on the Desktop that gets a number appended if you use reset more than once. If you have Firefox 14 then you are out of luck if you've removed personal data and do not have a backup.

You can try to restore a profile folder with the Recuva program.

Well I am still being plagued with script issues.

I now have Firefox version 17.0 and still the same old thing.

But something interesting. I have a desktop which I use all the time and I also have a laptop. I hate the laptop so rarely use it unless I need to have access to my computer while away from the house. Well my desktop decided to act up the other day so I had no choice but to use the laptop which I also have Firefox installed on.

After being on the laptop about a hour it dawned on me that I don't have the issue with Firefox and the script issue that I do while on the laptop...wonder why. I was on the laptop for 2 days and not one script issue...not even on MSN where most of the issues occur.

Any idea's why?

Do you have security software that can block JavaScript or otherwise cause such problems?

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Thanks to my husband he helped me fix the javascript errors I kept getting (up to 8 on a page sometimes)

We went through and disabled all my addons. Then I added each one back, one at a time, doing the required restart to complete the enabling process for each addon.

This fixed the error issue and I couldn't be more pleased.
