I am not sure your 2nd link works. Why not reverse the changes and see if it solves the problem. This forum will discuss essential tweaks or adjustment that provide fixes to problems, but not unnecessary hacks.

Note if you go to about:support or use Firefox Button -> Help -> Troubleshooting

you will obtain a list of changed preferences. If you then go to about:config and accept the warning, you will get a full listing of preferences, the changed ones are in bold type. You may also search using the filter option. Right clicking gives the option of changing or resetting the preferences.

I think I may be wary of following a tip from 2004 on a 2012 release of a browser.

Instead of reseting the changes I unistalled and re-installed Firefox(didn't save previous data), so no changes were made, but it still occures randomly and it's quite annoying, hte pages don't load, they show up as plain text.

Tried installing the new Aurora, still the same crap happening, can anybody please solve this, i have undone all my tweaks and still few pages load inproperly.

A standard reinstall of Firefox utilizes the current program path | folders and the current profile.

It is possible to remove personal info etc using Windows XP or Firefox options whilst uninstalling, but that is NOT normally a recommended action as it results in loss of all profile data from all versions of firefox, so you loose passwords and bookmarks etc.

An easier method of doing this is under development ( https://wiki.mozilla.org/Support/Firefox_Features/Clean_up_user_profile ) but for now the safer test is to create and use a new profile. If you do that carefully you do not damage existing data and profiles.

A proper clean install also removes the existing programs folder, and depending on what changes you made it is possible you would need to follow that procedure to return Firefox to a more usual state.

If the problem is occurring only sporadically maybe something is blocking your use of javascripts, possibly an add-blocker or security related program. If you scroll the article I linked above it will offer some general troubleshooting tips.

John, I now installed Mozilla 3.6 and it hasn't got that problem, but it's quite slover, so I'll try your advice and see what happens(I'll try to disable pop-up add blocking).

If you are happy experimenting with Firefox note it is quite easy to install and use multiple versions, although that is apparently considered an advanced topic.

do not rename or delete profiles until & unless you are totally familiar with what is likely to happen)

Pretty simple to do

• choose custom install when installing, and install each version in its own separate location
• it is essential (at least if you want it to be trouble free) to create separate profiles for each version
  • it would be usual then to create a shortcut so each version starts with the correct profile
  • versions other than the main default one may also be started with the -no-remote option, that allows you to run versions simultaneously (assuming the pc has the spare capacity needed)

No changes yet, I did a clean install(removed all previous data/info and folders of Mozilla Firefox), could this be a java sided problem, because this happens on almost every page I go on?

• edit I changed the profile, and it seems to work fine now, but I can't imagine on what the problem was, anyways, thank you John!

• second edit, nothing changed, even Mozilla's homepage doesn't show up properly, I think I'll move on to Chrome until Firefox hits version 10.

You could always work through troubleshooting with multiple profiles and try to determine what the problem was, but if it works you have achieved the objective of fixing the problem.

The same is still happening, did a clean install, made a new profile, didn't save any previous data. No matter what I do it stays the same :(

The problem is unlikely to be with Firefox itself. I have all supported versions installed on Windows XP and on Windows 7. The problem is likely to be with your own particular setup.

Have you tried in a new profile and whilst in safe mode using the default theme.

You say not even the home page works, can you attach a screen shot of that whilst in safe mode and a new profile please, it may give me some clues.

Firefox 10 is available today, but may not solve your problem.

Written by someone using a Mac OSX version of Firefox. That may or may not make a difference, but I saw at least 3 errors in that article which could cause major problems for someone who took that as the "gospel".

Is that problems with only "page source" only happen with all web pages or only with some web pages?
If with only some, with ones specifically?

No this happens to all pages, and the html code lines show up with Opera browser aswell, but I can't figure out on how they both are connected...

The only way I can think of that Opera and FF are "connected" is through a firewall or an AV app. Try disabling your firewall and AV and revisit a few sites to see if the issue prevails.

Disabled my Avira antivirus and firewall, pages randomly display html codes, and imageshack.us doesn't work at all(shows just plain texts).

If the problems occur with other browsers such as Opera than it's not a Firefox problem.

Are you:

1. Accessing through a proxy
2. Using a router
3. Have a laptop or other means of connection other than the computer with the problem that you can try

I don't use proxy, and yes I'm using a router, and I'm on a PC(no other computers). I'll try restarting my router and modem, request a new IP..... I'll see what happens.

Some routers have a built-in AV and Firewall. If yours does then disable both. There may be a conflict. I can't think of any malware that would cause this issue but it can't hurt to run a scan.

Also, a thought .. Go into your control-panel Internet Options / Advanced. Scroll down to HTTP 1.1 Settings and make sure that http1.1 is enabled. Since your issue is global in nature you may want to check all of the settings under "Browsing" to see if anything looks abnormal.
