Update 4.0 RC 1 is offered everyday, but refuses to connect with the downloading server. iMac OS10.6
The update link changes the screen, but I just get "connecting" and it never connects.

There are no updates planned for Firefox 4.0 at moment.
There might be security/stability bug fix updates for 3.6.*/3.5.* in a couple weeks though.

Looks like you were testing the now old Firefox 4.0 Beta12 from February 25.
Try download the Firefox 4.0 final from www.mozilla.com
Since if that update had worked it would have updated at least once more and perhaps be a full update anyways.
James, thank you for your diagnosis. I downloaded Firefox 4.0 final version and since installing it, I have not been offered any updates. I waited a couple of days to see if any would come.

It is always best to install the full version if you have used beta versions. That is the only way to get off the beta update channel and on the regular release update channel. Otherwise you will receive updates for future alpha versions an not for the release version.
