How can I stop URLs from reloading a page?

Many URLs and hosts automatically reload pages. For example, when I am reading a multi-page article and am several pages in, the page often reloads and I have to start all over again and try find the place where I left off reading. "Stop Auto Reload" is a Firefox extension that is supposed to allow the user to stop the auto-reloading that many URLs and hosts execute, but it does not always work. It seems to work on some sites, but not on others. I have not found any other extensions so far that address this. Any assistance with this problem is greatly appreciated. -Neil

Yes some page automatically update as they are being read, annoying. I didn't know there was such an extension, so will look into that. Thanks

UPDATE: Just found this. Haven't tried it yet :)

"Just type about:config into the Firefox address bar, “Accept the risks” involved in making changes to Firefox, then near the top of the list, you should see the accessibility.blockautorefresh preference."

Thanks for this info! I had seen this fix before somewhere, but was reluctant to mess with Firefox at the command level. The site you found shows that it is safe and easy. Well done, friend!

Let's see if it works :)
