Some of the emails in my inbox are coming through as duplicates, ie I'm getting 2 copies of each email. Why is this?

Hi Steve Do you use the Unified inbox. Check "Unify" is not enabled on the "All Mail" folder. It should be disabled. This is the most common reason to observe duplicates.

  1. Open the account list.
  2. Tap account name
  3. Tap manage folders (bottom of list)
  4. Tap "All Mail" folder
  5. Disable "Unify"

Some providers such as gmail allow labels to be assigned to an email. If an email is assigned more than one label, it can appear duplicated as Thunderbird treats labels as seperate folders.

Many thanks Platform 34, that did the trick.

I have a similar issue. New emails to a Gmail account appear as duplicates in the unified folder. When I restart Thunderbird, they no longer appear as duplicates. I suspect it may be connected to the fact I use "All Mail" as the archive folder for that account.

But I cannot follow the steps in Platforms34's solution, because I do not find a "manage folders" option after tapping the account name, nor an option to disable "Unify" in the "All Mail" folder settings. I am using Thunderbird 149.0.2 on Windows 11.

I am probably missing an easy step. Any help would be much appreciated!
