Firefox has taken to sending pop-ups of breaking news, which I then have to clear manually (Win 10) How can I stop this.

I have looked in settings, but can't find an off switch for this "new" toy. At least the Thunderbird notifications disappear after a few seconds! These just pile up till they block the entire right hand side of my screen - and then they keep going, and block other more important notifications in the main notifications bit.

I have tried that before posting my question.

This is a notification coming direct from Firefox - not from other websites. They are all incoming breaking news, from unidentified sites - at least in the notification.

I have the news notifications for Windows turned off already. These alerts are a major distraction, coming up when I am neither browsing nor using email.
