"Slideshows on websites drive me crazy. How can I disable them?" (old thread was locked)

more options

I wanted to add a comment to one of these two old unsolved threads[*], but they are locked. Someone at forums management wrongly thinks that "old" means "solved".

What I wanted to add is I found a partial solution:

Press F12 to open developer tools Click the Debugger tab if it is not already the default open On the right side there is a column with a Pause button at the top and the items Threads, Watch expressions, Breakpoints, XHR Breakpoints, Event Listener Breakpoints, then "Filter by event type".

You can directly click the pause button or check the Animation event type. The site will freeze but the downside is the look will turn greyish.

Does anyone know how to pause but keep the normal colors/contrast look of the site without fading to grey?

Hi, threads here are locked automatically after six months, solved or not.

That is an interesting idea. I am not aware of a built-in or convenient way to remove the gray overlay. However, if no one comes up with one, a custom style rule might be able to make it transparent and/or relocate that button.

Modifying Firefox with custom style rules isn't officially supported, but a lot of people view it as an important part of Firefox's customizability. You can seek guidance on the following subreddit, and I have a general website that might help:
