Typing comments in youtube controls video

Since possibly the latest update, when I go down to comments in any youtube video and start typing, it acts as though the video is still the focus.

For example, If I try to type "this is a test" the T will enlarge the video player, the i will pop out the video and space will play/pause the video.

This does not happen when using Chrome or Edge. I have tried in safe mode. I've cleared cache/cookies. I've uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox (even tried firefox on another device and the problem occurs there too (should have done that before the uninstall on my pc but whatever).

Yes, Reddit also is flooded with posts on this problem. (for example) Probably Google changed something and it's better to wait for a fix than to try to hack around it.

Thanks. I was searching but had found nothing about it. Glad to know it's not just me

A possible workaround for now is to place a space on the clipboard (i.e. type a space and select it and copy the space to the clipboard) and paste this space if necessary. You can possibly use the location bar to get the space on the clipboard.
