Version: firefox-70.0-1.fc30.x86_64 [Fedora 30. GNOME. Wayland]

I tried running with --safe-mode [all extensions disabled], but it kept happening. Does the following match any known problem?

I don't have any crash information recorded by firefox. So I've tried running it in a terminal instead and capturing the console output.

    1. No firefox crash recordings

The crash report dialogue does *not* appear when Firefox crashes.

Firefox support articles also suggested I look in "about:crashes". However when I visit "about:crashes", Firefox just says "Hmm. That address doesn’t look right. Please check that the URL is correct and try again."

In "~/.mozilla/firefox/Crash Reports/submitted/", there are several files but they are all older than the current month (November 2019).

Thanks Fred. I've realized I made a mistake in my last post.

Initially, I had the crashes without running under the debugger, and I also verified that Firefox Safe Mode crashed when not running under the debugger. But

1) The SIGPIPE part is probably not a real problem. Using the debugger causes this problem. (Explained here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=522235)

2) So far, I have not yet verified that the real crash is still happening after I re-installed Firefox.

(Although I did use `rpm --verify`before re-install, it showed that there were no checksum errors in any Firefox files. But, I want to make sure before I try something new).

As I said:

I tried "about:crashes" but firefox did not recognize it. Here is a screenshot.

I also looked in the crash folder. There are no crash files for this year (2019). Here is a screenshot. I have no problems with my computer's time/date.

My original post also includes details of my OS (and firefox version).

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.

Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Note: Check Both Folders

Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders. Do not remove the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.

Do Not remove any profile folders.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

Thanks for the walkthroughs Fred.

I have now removed and re-installed Firefox. I use Linux, and I install Firefox from the relevant "distro-based package manager".

Since then Firefox (safe mode) has crashed several times, with the same message.

After I reinstalled Firefox, I haven't had any more crashes. Thanks Fred!

I don't know why `rpm -q --verify firefox` didn't show a problem before, so... maybe there was something else weird. But whatever it was, I can now use Firefox reliably again. Which is very important to me :-).
