I am sorry to hear you are having issues with your web browser freezing.

Besides the recommendations from the prior thread, you may want to try starting Firefox in Safe Mode as there may be an extension causing issues with your web browser. Starting in Safe Mode will disable all add-ons for troubleshooting.

How are you opening this Word Doc?

Firefox doesn't support this file format natively, so you would have to select a suitable application (NOT Firefox) when you get an 'Open with' or a 'Save File' dialog.
