Print Preview is missing on mac os?

more options

Hello. I'm running Firefox Quantum 66.0 64-bit on Mac OS 10.13.6

Articles on this help site seem to indicate that "print preview" should be the first screen when you try to print a webpage, but I can't get it to work. I've tried "command-p", and by using the menu and choosing print. Should I get a "print preview" screen when I print something? If not, where do I go to submit this as a feature request?

Thank you, Chris

So, how do I suggest that the developers add this feature?

You can submit feedback on one of these (or all of them)  :

In the mean time : why don't you give that extension a try  ?

Hello chrismcl,

Maybe you'd consider using this extension :

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/preview-print-button/

Worth a try ......

As you mentioned using { Command + P } which is { Ctrl + P } in Windows it bypasses the Print Preview window.

Not sure about Mac OSX, but with Windows using the Print this page toolbar button is what opens the Print Preview.

The knowledge base article excludes print preview description for Mac, so I assume that on Mac you do not have this feature easily available.

Hopefully the above mentioned Print Preview Button extension works for you.

On Mac the toolbar button and the menu Print items explicitly open the Print menu instead of the Print Preview menu.

<toolbarbutton id="print-button" class="toolbarbutton-1 chromeclass-toolbar-additional"
#ifdef XP_MACOSX
     command="cmd_print"
     tooltip="dynamic-shortcut-tooltip"
#else
     command="cmd_printPreview"
     tooltiptext="&printButton.tooltip;"
#endif
label="&printButton.label;"/>

Thanks, everyone. I'm assuming that from these comments we are confirming that "print preview" does not exist in Firefox for Mac.

So, how do I suggest that the developers add this feature?

Thanks, Chris

The developers have no interest in adding this feature. The reason is that the Gecko rendering engine is inherently inaccurate. Add the PrintEdit extension so you may have a "print preview" function. Review a preview of the pages, then do a "print to pdf" (or open in Preview app) and you'll see that the pagination is way off. I complained about this over a year ago and nothing's been done to rectify it. Using the very latest update, I just tested it again; still wildly inaccurate. Either open the print job as a PDF in Preview (so you can get an accurate preview) or do what I did: Abandon Firefox for Chrome or Safari (where the Webkit engine renders accurately).
