Disappearing history, bookmarks and Quantum icon after Quantum install.

Installed Firefox Quantum. It worked perfectly all day and so did the history. Didn't notice the bookmarks. When I closed the app, the icon in the taskbar disappeared. I brought up the older version of Firefox and history and bookmarks are gone.

So are bookmarks gone in both versions of Firefox ? Which was the version that had the issue ? How do you have both versions set up to run ? Is there a folder on the desktop called OldFirefoxProfile ?
