When I right click on a document (can be .txt, .pdf, etc) and select send to and click on "Mail Recipient" nothing happens
Recently after the update i cannot send any doc by simply clicking on mail recipient although this my default email client and i am using windows 7. I even tried reinstalling but it did not work.

Did you check that your TB is properly integrated into the system? Check your settings, and ensure that in the "Check Now" dialogue Email is activated.
This is already my default email client.
Well, while this might be rightful assumption we need to narrow down possibilities for errors. As a first step I'd check that the settings I mentioned including a look into "Check now" are accurate. Unfortunately your answer does not indicate to me that you went into those settings and double checked that from Thunderbird point of view the email integration is set correctly.
Please try to give clear answers on what you did and what the results are. Since we are not sitting in front of the same screen, I rely on your feedback in order to help you in hopefully finding a solution.
Assuming that you did check the actual settings with finding that Thunderbird is correctly set as default email client, the next step is to confirm that you can send attachments from within Thunderbird.
Either by using the "Attach" button or drag and drop of a document into the new email.
I went and checked the settings as above and it is already the default client and I can sent mails using the attach / drag and drop option.
OK, it looks like your TB settings are fine. The next culprit I'd look at are your add-ons. Please start Thunderbird again with add on's disabled. You find it in "Help - Restart with add-ons disabled". Let me know the results.
Even restarting with disabled add ons did not work.
Read the release notes for version 52.2.0. There were MAPI issues in prior versions that they claim to have fixed and a suggested work sound for other Mail To issues. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/52.2.0/releasenotes/
