When I use the back button the droopdown history ALWAYS drops down how can I keep that from happening?

My issue is not whether or not the back/forward buttons save up to 10 addresses. My problem has to do with the drop down which shows the history appearing every time I use the buttons. I must click to close the window - most annoying. Somewhere it says it should only work with the right click but that is not my case. Thanks
