How can I stop I.E. in Windows 7 from taking the default browers selection?

I keep selecting Mozilla as my default browser, but Windows 7 I. E. keeps taking it back as my default browser. Is there any way to stop it. Every time I open Firefox is says it's not my default browser and I select it to be but it won't stay.

Try setting Firefox as the Default Browser in the Control Panel > Default Programs > Set Program Access and Computer Defaults
